Texas Hill Country Wedding Between Two Baylor Grads

texas bride and groom at The Winfield Inn

McKenna + Luke made a lovely bride and groom; we were so honored to be a part of their special wedding day at the quaint Winfield Inn, a favorite Texas Hill Country venue. Flora Fetish does many weddings each year, and we are excited to be the ‘pretty’ of the day because it exemplifies the celebration. Nothing makes us feel warmer than when our ‘pretty’ is coupled with unfettered commitment between two people that love deeply.

McKenna and Luke gave a lot of focus to their wedding vows by having a calligrapher turn them into a piece of art. They read their vows to each other in their first look and now have them hanging over their bed. We like to encourage all of our couples to give much thought to their wedding vows. At the end of the day, even when photos are faded and gone, vows remain in our hearts and carry marriages through both light and dark.

It was with a breath of fresh air that we welcomed blue back to the wedding scene as a wedding trend for 2016. McKenna saw the value in hiring a professional wedding vendor team for items such as centerpieces and ceremony garland, but she also succeeded in a gorgeous DIY project wherein she purchased blue agate pieces and silver leafed the edges on her own!

We find the ceremony garland to be such a statement that it can even be re-purposed. There is sometimes concern with spending money on the ceremony. In reality, those pieces can still be seen throughout the course of the full evening. Depending on the install, they can be moved to other parts of the reception. When that isn’t possible, we recommend turning the altar area into a photo back drop! Bring some props, a Polaroid camera, and a scrapbook so guests can enjoy your florals all night long.

Another gorgeous wedding trend we are thoroughly enjoying right now is clear framing for signage. Here are two examples of how McKenna navigated the challenges of this current wedding style.

First, she elected to place her dinner menu on a clear sign without a backing. Remember to place this in an area where it can be read. For example, when she selected the location for her seating assignment chart, she knew it would be hard to read against the white wall so she backed the glass with fabric to avoid any issues. Also, adding the greenery at the top of this sign created depth, allowing the sign to stand out from the white wall.

All in all, McKenna and Luke couldn’t have asked for a better day and despite the chances of rain, remained calm and focused. And hey, even if it does look like rain for your wedding week, bottle the water and save it for christening your child someday. A special memento from the day you said I do.
